About Us

Where it began...

Duchy CrossFit was born out of David's passion of combining gymnastics, weightlifting and functional fitness. In 2015 David embarked on his CrossFit coaching journey and the following year Duchy CrossFit began.

We have now grown within the community raising money for local charities, holding successful CrossFit competitions and helping to transform people's lives!

All of our coaches hold the relevant CrossFit certificates and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with those who would like to embark on a new fitness journey.

Meet the Team

Meet David Konefal, he's the Owner and Head Coach here at Duchy CrossFit.

David has 21 years fitness experience and is passionate about helping people to reach their full potential. His knowledge and coaching style enables people to feel empowered in achieving their fitness goals. He believes everyone has the right to good health and to feel happy about themselves inside and out.

When David isn't coaching, he's not afraid to be a beginner himself, trying new sports such as Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, signing up for an Ironman and placing third at the Cornish Qualifier for GPC-GB in 2019. If you see him in the box training, he may be doing his favourite WOD, Fran.

David really is the beating heart here at Duchy CrossFit.

This is Dom Barker, he's our Olympic Weightlifting Coach and has been part of the Duchy team for the last couple of years.

With 10 years fitness experience he enjoys watching our members progress both in skill and confidence with a barbell. He also understands the importance of teaching and perfecting the basics, so that technique doesn't change when lifting heavy. When he isn't coaching, you might find Dom here at Duchy doing his favourite workout 'Jackie'.

With Dom's experience and coaching style, his specialist classes are hugely popular amongst our members. He is an asset to our team.

Meet Mike, he's the face behind the lens and the one who creates the incredible drone footage and photos we use in our social media posts.

As well as photography and videography, Mike's other passion is sport. From the age of 15 he's been involved in fitness and is an Ironman finisher! He's been a member here at Duchy CrossFit since its inception in 2016 and can often be found training with David. He specialises in endurance fitness and uses CrossFit to compliment his love of cycling and swimming. He prides himself on mastering the disciplines and is currently training to perfect his handstand walk.

When Mike isn't capturing athletes in action or training for his next Ironman, he owns the catering company Vanity Fayre, which is used to fuel our athletes during competitions and community events.

We're very grateful to have him in our team.
